Danna Eve Rzecznik
My current work is made using a midrange translucent porcelain body fired in oxidation and produced through hand built and soft slab construction techniques. The vessel forms allude to characteristics of organic objects such as shells, plants, flowers, and the human body. The sensuous forms and tactile surfaces reference skin, fabric, and stitching.
The design and construction stems from sewing and baking skills passed down to me as a child by my grandmothers. The vessels appear to have breath pushing out from beneath the surface giving them their shape and structure. They reveal areas of unglazed porcelain and colorful or pink fleshy tones, which evoke a feminine sensibility.
